From the FFXV Official Works interview with Kenichi Shida (director of Episode Gladio and Episode Prompto), Takefumi Terada (director of Episode Ignis), and Kazuya Takahashi (director of Comrades and did some main game stuff like Tours), some interesting stuff about Ep Ignis:
About the Multiending Change in Episode Ignis
Next, please tell us about the concept behind Episode Ignis.
Terada: First, we decided on three important things. The first was that this was going to be the story of Ignis putting his life on the line to save his king. The second was to have a game with a multiending format that would stand against the cruel fate in the main game. The third was to do total fanservice. The execution and story were designed on the principle of satisfying people who love Ignis and FFXV with all our might.
Most people see Gladio as this harsh, unfeeling asshole but honestly I feel like he works the hardest to keep his emotions at bay…
He’s the king’s shield, he has a job to do and he can’t afford to get emotional. But sometimes that shit sneaks up on him and he’s gotta fight like hell to keep it from surfacing.
Anonymous Asked: I’ve got a relationship between a humble prince and his nervous maid, but literally no ideas. Would you mind giving me a few fluffy prompts? (P.S. I love all the prompts you post, you help lots of writers my friend!)
–
1. “I just wanted to say thank you for everything that you do. You’re the reason our home functions as well as it does.”
“Oh, I-Thank you, sir, but it’s really nothing.”
2. “You can sit down for a bit, if you like. I know you must be tired.”
“Why, no sir! Oh, forgive me, I only meant-it wouldn’t be appropriate, you see.”
3. “I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to bother you!”
“You haven’t bothered me in the slightest. Can I help you with something?”
4. “I know you must be angry. I’ll begin looking for new work immediately.”
“Angry? Why would I be angry? It was only a plate. Believe me, we do have more.”
5. “Can I tell you a secret? I’m nervous. One day, I’ll be king, and I’m not quite certain I can manage it.”
“I don’t mean to speak out of turn, but I-that is, I’ve always thought-you will be a wonderful king.”
6. “My parents have been pressuring me to consider marriage. They’re bringing a host of royal women for me to consider.”
“Oh. Well, I’m sure that you’ll be very happy. I hope so.”
7. “I’m so sorry, your highness! I did not see you there! Forgive me, please!”
“There’s nothing to forgive. I’m only glad that you aren’t injured.”
8. “You know, I feel more comfortable around you than around anyone else. But you never seem to feel comfortable around me. If you’d prefer that I leave you alone, I-”
“No! That is… You’re welcome to be wherever you like. I just don’t want to appear too… Familiar. It would reflect badly on you.”
9. “I would like to kiss you. If you don’t want that, you’re allowed to say so. No harm will come to you, or anyone you care about, and you will not suffer any sort of consequences. I’m not ordering you as a prince, but asking you… As a man.”
“I… I need a moment to think. It’s not that I don’t-that I’m opposed. But I’m nervous.”
10. “If anyone were to find out about us-”
“Nothing would happen. They can’t touch me, and I will not let them touch you. I promise.”
